SHINE SA’s Gender Wellbeing Service is a free, confidential mental health service for people who are questioning their gender identity or identify as trans or gender diverse.

(This service provides psychological therapies, peer support, general information and support within the metropolitan area of Adelaide. The Gender Wellbeing Service is an Adelaide Primary Health Network (APHN) funded mental health program specifically funded to service individuals who identify as transgender, gender diverse, or gender questioning. We are staffed by mental health clinicians and lived experience workers. We are a short term/brief intervention program. We have compiled a series of frequently asked questions and answers about the Gender Wellbeing Service.

The Gender Wellbeing Service understands that navigating the numerous services available for trans and gender diverse (TGD) clients across South Australia can be confusing and overwhelming. We have compiled answers to some frequently asked questions around medical and social gender affirmation.

It’s common for people supporting trans and gender diverse family members, friends or clients to have questions. We have compiled a series of answers to common questions we receive from professionals, carers and supports.
