We are delighted to announce that our lead presenter at out ReFRESH Forum for IDAHOT is Sarah K Reece.
Sarah is an amazing individual who is part of the queer community, a consumer of mental health services, and a worker in the sector also. Her open and creative approach to life will inform her presentation which will kick off our proceedings. She will take a fresh look at self-care – we all hear about it as workers in regard to ourselves and our clients, but how useful is the way we frame it? When self-care becomes more work which is measured in terms of success or failure, and carries with it notions of obligation and shame, can we take stock and look at it in a different way?
The forum on 17th May (the International Day Against Homophobia,Transphobia & Biphobia) at Woodville will explore mental health and LGBTI people, with particular reference to some of the people who exist at the intersections in the community: nonbinary/genderqueer people and bisexual/pansexual people.
After Sarah’s presentation she will join our specially invited panel of guests to answer some of our questions in a Q & A session.
When the formal proceedings have finished we will have an afternoon tea featuring rainbow cake!
