Greens push for drug trial to reduce HIV risks in South Australia a ‘no brainer’

The Greens want South Australia to be part of a trial for a pill which can reduce the risk of HIV infection and is already being widely used overseas.

The drug called PrEP — short for pre exposure prophylaxis — is made up of antiretroviral drugs taken by HIV-negative people to prevent HIV infection, according to the ACON website, which is primarily funded by the NSW Ministry of Health.
